The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has directed the suspended Vice Chancellor of Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU), Prof. Erasmus Samuel Alnaa, to resume work without delay in the midst of investigations of alleged breaches of procurement laws which preceded a suspension by the Governing Council in December 2025.
In complying with the directives by GTEC, Professor Erasmus Samuel Alnaa arrived at the University but had difficulty in accessing the office due to security lock and key after his suspension by the Governing Council of the University. He later had access to the office but unfortunately was invited by the Ghana police service in Bolgatanga for interrogation for resuming work when the committee had not finished its investigations.
But in a letter dated May 4, 2026, signed by GTEC Director-General Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, the Commission said its directive supersedes all earlier communications from the university’s Council, which had placed Prof. Alnaa on suspension.
Below is the official letter from GTEC Directing the suspended Vice Chancellor to resume work immediately.
The letter was copied to the Minister of Education, the BTU Council Chairman, the Chairman of VCTU-G, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education, and the Registrar of BTU.
