In a powerful display of political unity, the Talensi District Assembly has delivered a resounding 100% “Yes” vote to endorse Hon. Edward Azuah Akolgo for a second term as Presiding Member. The unanimous vote serves as a massive vote of confidence in Akolgo’s leadership, which has been defined by consensus-building and grassroots development over the last two years.

Accepting the mantle for another two-year term, Hon. Akolgo delivered a stirring speech that balanced humility with a call for aggressive execution.

Reflecting on his first term, Hon. Akolgo described the past two years as a “season of learning.” Under his guidance, the Assembly focused on breaking down old assumptions and building a foundation of mutual respect. “We have demonstrated that in diversity we can find strength, and in disagreement, we can build understanding,” Akolgo remarked. “But as we enter this next phase, we must go deeper—deeper in talk, deeper in commitment, and deeper in execution.”
The Presiding Member-elect was clear that his vision for the Talensi District relies on the active participation of every Assembly Member. He reminded his colleagues that their roles are “sacred” and that they serve as the vital link between the government and the vulnerable.

He challenged the members to be more than just figureheads: Represent the farmers, traders, and youth who rely on local governance. Act as custodians of grassroots democracy. “You are expected to listen more than you speak and serve more than you are served.”
Drawing inspiration from James 2:17, Hon. Akolgo warned against the dangers of “empty deliberation.” He emphasized that while debate is necessary, it must lead to visible change in the lives of the people.
“Decisions taken in this chamber must not gather dust,” he asserted. “Faith by itself, if not accompanied by action, is dead. In the same vein, deliberation without execution is empty. We must be both thinkers and doers.”
In his concluding remarks, Hon. Akolgo touched on the necessity of collective effort, citing the proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” He expressed his profound gratitude for the 100% endorsement, noting that he is “highly delighted” to continue the work of developing the district.
