Talensi: Three Galamseyers died as a result of loose slap of Rock fell at Galamsey pit

It was a griefing day for  residents in the mining communities in the Eastern part of the Talensi District of the Upper East Region when three young energetic men working underground of a Galamsey pit lost their lives through failed geological cause

According to the police in the Talensi District, on 16/02/2026 at about 2230 hours, a distress call was received from Masakya Maxwell of Datoko to the effect that a mining accident had occurred at Tarkwa, a mining community near Gbane in the Tongo District.

The report indicated that a loose slab of rock fell on three young men who were working underground, resulting in their instant death.

POLICE ACTION TAKEN

Upon receipt of the information, Police proceeded to the scene at Tarkwa. On arrival, it was observed that some young men had entered the mining pit and retrieved three lifeless bodies, which were being kept in sacks.

The bodies were removed from the sacks, and the mining pit owner, Tii Musah, identified the deceased to Police as his workers, namely: Subil Nmabil, aged about 30 years; Musah Zipati, aged about 40 years; and Onyin Udasaa, aged about 35 years.

A careful examination of the bodies revealed a deep cut on the left rib of deceased Subil Nmabil, multiple head injuries on Musah Zipati, and a smashed right hand on Onyin Udasaa.

The bodies were conveyed to the Regional Hospital, Bolgatanga, where they were clinically examined and pronounced dead by the Medical Officer on duty. They were subsequently deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
