Talensi Paramount Chief Proposes New Football Clubs to Revive District Sports

The  overlord of the Talensi Traditional Area is taking steps to breathe new life into sports in the Talensi Traditional Area, with a focus on reviving club football that has struggled in recent years.

The Paramount Chief of the Talensi Traditional Area,Naab Kubilsong Namalteng through his Secretary Mr. Sunday Yinbil has put forward a proposal to establish two new football clubs which shall be named Talensi Rockstars for the male team and Talensi Rock Queens for the female team.

The initiative aims to restore the district’s presence in competitive football and create opportunities for local talent.

As part of the formation process, the Council is inviting interested citizens from Talensi to join either club. Application forms are available at the Secretary’s office at the Traditional Council. Applicants must be between *18 and 30 years old*, for both the men’s and women’s teams.

This development comes at a time when the Talensi District has been absent from Ghana’s higher-tier football divisions in the Upper East Region including Division Three, Division Two, and Division One. Currently, Sheaga Golden Stars have just earned promotion back to Division Two, joining Winkongo Dynamic sharpers, who are also competing at that level.

For Talensi’s youth, this is more than a team. It’s a chance to represent your roots, reignite local pride, and put Talen Teng back on the football map.

The Council’s proposal is seen as a promising move to strengthen sports within the district and re-establish Talensi as a competitive force in regional football.
