The member of parliament for Talensi Constituency, Duung Mahama together with the Talensi District Assembly has completed and handed over a three unit classroom block to the Gbee primary school who before now were learning under trees.
This gesture by the MP and the district Assembly is part government efforts in completing projects of previous governments and is also part of his educational infrastructure development drive to create a more convenient and comfortable atmosphere of teaching and learning in the Constituency.

The Gbee community is without any comfortable place of learning and this is affecting academic performances of pupils and at the same time reducing enrollment which compelled some children to abandon school.
With the completion of this three unit classroom block, enrollment is expected to increase with effective teaching and learning.
During the handing over of the school block, the member of parliament for the area, Duung Mahama expressed satisfaction on the high level of cooperation from residents and the chiefs towards the completion of the school block. Duung Mahama reiterated his commitment in developing the education sector in the district and that the Gbee community will get more educational projects as part of passion for education and urged the community to cultivate good maintenance culture of the classroom block to ensure full benefits of its purpose.
“The mission for education in general is to make sure that we eliminate schools under three, which is one agenda we are taking. Secondly, to also make sure that every school in Talensi, students should have furniture to sit on under the resetting agenda. Truly we are providing books for the students. We are going to improve on that, to make sure that all students have books and pencils that they can write. And then we are going to also take some measures to make sure we improve at the lower level. that will actually, at the end, have a very good result”, the MP said.
The Chief of Gbee, Nkenyolong-kupelizore
was thankful to the MP and the district Chief executive of Talensi for listening to their pleas on the state of education in the community.
“With the help of God, our MP came in together with, our DCE, the school building was completed. The challenge with our school was not easy and you saw how the children were struggling inside under the trees and with this new block, teaching and learning will be good”, Gbee Chief said.
“We are also appealing to the MP and the DCE to help us with electricity and dams for irrigation which will reduce rural-urban migration as well as reducing hunger in the community”, he added.
The District chief Executive for Talensi, Millim Nabwomya assured the chiefs and residents of Gbee community of government’s commitment in providing educational facilities to improve on teaching and learning in schools and that the Assembly has so far undertaken a lot of educational projects through its numerous fundings.
“His Excellency, the President of Ghana said that any other project that was initiated years back should be completed. And so when we came in, we made sure that this project is actually brought to completion for the use of the children in this community. You have heard the Chief saying, the Assemblyman is here, he’s my witness.
He has often stormed my office, almost every week, telling me the suffering situation of the children sitting under trees in this community to attend their lessons. But this one is a big relief to the community because the children can now get a better shelter to sit in with tables and chairs to undertake their academic activities very well. Normally, a project like this, the issue has been a source of funding. So money is set aside to complete all those things. So as we campaign, every project that was started to benefit the communities, we are carrying out everything.
This is one of them that we have just completed and we are moving to others”, Millim Nabwomya disclosed.
