The District Director of Education for Talensi, Christina A. Ayinzoya (Ms), has expressed profound gratitude for the localized support boosting the district’s academic performance as students prepare for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Speaking on January 30, 2026, Ms. Ayinzoya highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Education Directorate, the Member of Parliament, and the District Assembly to ensure students are fully equipped for success.
One of the most significant hurdles for students in the Talensi District is transitioning from classroom lessons to the formal examination format. Ms. Ayinzoya explained that many students are accustomed to learning only from the blackboard, which can make a printed exam paper intimidating.
“The mock is necessary because we don’t normally have the means for schools to prepare children using printed papers. Meeting a printed material for the first time in the final exam is difficult for them. We are introducing them to printed materials now to ensure they perform during the final BECE.”
The Director revealed that 1,570 candidates are being prepared for this year’s exams. She credited Hon. Daniel Dung Mahama (MP) for funding the first district mock and expressed hope for further collaboration.
She anticipated that a second mock to be organized by the District Assembly under the guidance of the DCE, Hon. John Millem.

The district has seen a consistent upward trend in BECE pass rates over the last few years, and the Director is confident that 2026 will be a record-breaking year:
* 2022: 26%
* 2023: 46%
* 2024: 48%
* 2026 Goal: 50% and above

While the district provides the academic tools, Ms Ayinzoya emphasized that success starts at home. She urged parents to prioritize their children’s studies between now and March.
She advised parents not to overload candidates with fetching water, tending to animals, or heavy household tasks after school. Ensure children have necessary writing materials, such as pencils and pens. Focus on feeding them well and providing the “peace of mind” and courage needed to write with confidence.
“I urge parents to appreciate the good work done by the MP and prepare their wards. Give them the time to learn so they can make us proud.”
