Talensi MP Transforms Talensi Healthcare with GH₵ 300,000 Donation

On January 30, 2026, Hon. Daniel Dung Mahama, the member of parliament for Talensi presented a significant consignment of medical equipment and supplies to the Talensi District Hospital. The donation, valued at over GH₵ 300,000, aims to modernize local healthcare and ease the burden on both patients and providers.

The centerpiece of this donation, the oxygen concentrators, was inspired by the Honorable’s personal journey. While caring for his mother during her illness, he realized the life-saving importance of oxygen and the logistical hurdles of the traditional “cylinder system.”
“I saw the need for a ‘speeding wheel’ of health assistance. With a cylinder, you have to go and fill it. But with these concentrators, you simply plug them in and get oxygen straight from the air. It changes everything.”

The items provided were carefully selected to address the daily operational needs of the district’s health facilities:
Dual Oxygen Concentrators to provide an endless supply of oxygen via electricity, bypassing the need for gas refills.
Electronic Beds to improve patient recovery and ease the physical demands on nursing staff.

Wheelchairs to ensure mobile assistance and dignity for patients within the wards. Medical Essentials a variety of ward supplies, including towels and other clinical necessities.

While the donation is intended to support various health posts across the region, Hon. Mahama emphasized that the Talensi District Hospital will receive the “greatest share.” As the district’s primary referral hub, the facility must remain the strongest link in the local healthcare chain.
This presentation marks the beginning of a sustained effort to upgrade health services in the area. Hon. Mahama concluded his address with a promise to the people:
“This is just the first of many visits to come.”
