Friends of Prosper, a vibrant political group associated with the Governing National Democratic Congress, NDC, in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency has rescued the Bolgatanga Central Mosque of power outages that disrupts weekly Jummah Prayers (Friday prayer) by donating a high powered power plant ( Generator) to compliment the national grid as a salah gift.
This donation according to the Islamic community in Bolgatanga central, has come at the time the region is experiencing some power outages due to technical and mechanical engineering works by NEDCo in the area.
In recent times, power outages disrupt Friday sermons which plays an important aspect of the Jummah prayers and many congregants struggle to hear and grasp the information of the sermon.
Instead of the main muazeen (Caller to prayer) directing the congregants to salat ( Prayers), quite a number of the congregants volunteer to also amplifier what the Muazeen has said to the hearing of the many congregants who are far from the front roll of the congregation due to microphone off as a result of the power outage.
To show a high sense of solidarity with the Muslim community in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, friends of Prosper donates a power plant Generator to the central mosque to help have a decent atmosphere of Jummah Prayers immediately they were told of the situation at the mosque.
The Upper East Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Yussif Umar Mahamoud after receiving the power plant, prayed for the friends of prosper who financed the purchase of the power plant for putting smiles to the faces of the Muslim community.
A representative of friends of Prosper said, prosper Ayinbila Awuni has his childhood upbringing in the ZONGOs and most of his friends were and are still Muslims and for that reason giving to the mosque is part of who he is and this gesture is one of the components of nation building as well as religious tolerance.
Most of the congregants who spoke to our news team during the ceremony to donate the power plant Generator, expressed their oumost and sincere appreciation to friends of Prosper and prayed for the group for Allah to grant them their wishes.
Friends of Prosper for the past two years, have shown leadership by providing to the needy in the Constituency irrespective of one’s religious and political affiliations especially geatures targeting women empowerment and youth development.
